Coach Al Smith is a retired wrestling coach from Mishawaka High School. If you look at the number of kids that he has coached in his career, that then went on to a coaching career of there own, it is an amazing number of lives he has touched. If you then look at the number of kids lives that these coaches have touched, it will number in the thousands. Coach Smith’s influence is felt throughout the regions, as close to 80% of the local wrestling programs are a direct result of his efforts. Although, I do not coach wrestling any more, I carry on the passion he fostered in me for coaching into my softball program where I have had nearly 100 players go on to play college softball. I don’t think it is possible to determine the legacy that has been passed down from Coach Smith, but there is no doubt in many of our minds that he has had an immeasurable impact on the youth in this area.  - John Woodruff
